Zoya was super excited that evening. Cupid had struck her with the same arrow yet again after almost two decades and lo and behold she changed overnight. A zombie which she thought she was, had now burned herself in the pier of new found desire and happiness…

Yash had lit the fire and hence Zoya was radiating like gold.

He had asked her to call only on Sundays as he would come home early to babysit his nephew. His family never approved of Zoya. She didn’t match up to their social status. In fact they were planning to marry Yash with Manisha, their business partner’s daughter. Yash, being a smart boy was well aware of this plan and had agreed to marry her. He even dreamt of taking her to Visakhapatnam, nay, Viena for their honeymoon.

Zoya, on the other hand, completely unaware of Yash’s true intentions, ran errands with joy and was looking forward to talking to him that evening after all she had so much to share with him.

Zoya shut the door close behind her and moved closer to the balcony. She looked up at the sky. The moon was bright, just few dark clouds here and there. She smiled. She was so smitten by everything that was happening, she forgot that Sunday was still a few hours away. She pulled her cellphone out of her pocket and pressed Yash’s number.

The ring went through… but no answer.

She tried several times hoping to hear his divine voice. Finally Yash did take the call only to ask who was on the other side when she said- “hello”. She couldn’t believe her ears. She told him it was Zoya, but he said he doesn’t know anyone by that name. She recognized his voice but how come he didn’t, or maybe someone else was with him, she thought. Just then she heard a female voice. The line got disconnected.

She stared at her phone. Damn! Zoya told herself that how absentminded was she. She had lost the track of time and realized that it was still Saturday. She hated herself for being so stupid.

Zoya’s eyes welled up with tears. She looked up in the sky and saw the dark clouds gradually engulfing the moon. Soon after there was lightning and thunderstorms followed by huge downpour. Zoya stayed outside. That night she got completely drenched inside out.
