 Translation poem:  O Traveler!

– L.P. Devkota

Translation: Himal   Khadka

To which temple would you go

O traveler ?

what articles would you offer ?

and how would you take them with you ?

on which pilgrimage are you set

O traveler ?

on the shoulder of men

which golden town

are you heading towards ?

beautiful pillars, the bones

muscles, the walls

golden roof, the brain

senses, the door

waves of rivers in veins

temple, the self infinite

to which temple would you go

O traveler?

to which divine door?

on the glorious throne

at heart

God rules

this consciousness

glittering like gold,

his crown

this fabulous temple

the body

amidst the earth

God is in

eye is out

which town are you searching for?

God resides deep under

to how far will you

flow at the surface?

searching? give whole heart

light the blazing torches

God,

among the people,

walks unnoticed

kisses, the hand sin the golden industry

caresses,  the foreheads of the serving

with magical hands

to which temple would you go

O, traveler?

God sings,

by the street

through the birds’ tune

in the songs of people’s misery

God speaks

and never manifests anywhere

to

the physical eyes

to which temple would you go

O traveler?

on which pilgrimage are you set?

what articles would you offer?

and how would you take them with you?

to which temple would you go

O traveler?

to which unfamiliar terrains?

get back O’ Get back !

go hold the feet of men

put ointment

on burning wounds of

the sufferers

humanely

put a smile on

the lord’s

that divine countenance
